Rig Veda Hymn 1

1 I Laud Agni, the chosen Priest, God, minister of sacrifice,
The hotar, lavishest of wealth.

2 Worthy is Agni to be praised by living as by ancient seers.
He shall bring. hitherward the Gods.

3 Through Agni man obtaineth wealth, yea, plenty waxing day by day,
Most rich in heroes, glorious.

4 Agni, the perfect sacrifice which thou encompassest about
Verily goeth to the Gods.

5 May Agni, sapient−minded Priest, truthful, most gloriously great,
The God, come hither with the Gods.

6 Whatever blessing, Agni, thou wilt grant unto thy worshipper,
That, Angiras, is indeed thy truth.

7 To thee, dispeller of the night, O Agni, day by day with prayer
Bringing thee reverence, we come.

8 Ruler of sacrifices, guard of Law eternal, radiant One,
Increasing in thine own abode.

9 Be to us easy of approach, even as a father to his son:
Agni, be with us for our weal.

Homosexuality in Hinduism

There has been debates and varied viewpoints on recent verdict by Supreme Court of India on Homosexuality. Our Court and Law labels it as a Crime to be a Homosexual. With this verdict people has also started debating Homosexuality from a religious point of view.

Currently Homosexuality and Hinduism is very controversial with people having different view points. Sri Sri Ravishankar too come out against the verdict of Supreme Court and has said Homosexuality is not a Crime.

I would like to know what general people thinks about it ? Intellectual Hinduism would like to know about it. Intellectual Hinduism shall give its opinion on Homosexuality in few days time. Stay Tuned.

The Devine

He has no desires. He has cast off his chains. He walks on air. He is free, Tumbling like a leaf in the wind, From life to life. He has gone beyond the world, Beyond joy and sorrow. His mind is always cool. He lives as if he had no body.
- Ashtavakra Gita 18:21-22

Glory of Power

Whatever we see or think about is the manifestation of the Mother, of the Primordial Energy, the Primal Consciousness. Creation, preservation, and destruction, living beings and the universe, and further, meditation and the meditator, bhakti [devotion] and prema [divine love] all these are manifestations of the glory of that Power.

uttrayan - dakshinayan

The six months of the northern path of the sun, the path of light, of fire, of day, of the bright fortnight, leads knowers of Brahman to the supreme goal. The six months of the southern path of the sun, the path of smoke, of night, of the dark fortnight, leads other souls to the light of the moon and rebirth.

- Bhagavad Gita 8:24-25

values

Neglecting valuable advice, an ignorant man becomes the cause of his own misery. That soul who neither follows another's orders nor fathoms what to do himself creates nothing but torment until he leaves this life.

Be an Ant

Live in the world like an ant. The world contains a mixture of truth and untruth, sugar and sand. Be an ant and take the sugar.

- Ramakrishna

remember me

Remembering me at the time of death, close down the doors of the senses and place the mind in the heart. Then, while absorbed in meditation, focus all energy upwards to the head. Repeating in this state the divine Name, the syllable Om that represents the changeless Brahman, you will go forth from the body and attain the supreme goal.

- Bhagavad Gita 8:12-13

we have power

We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in the future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act.
